A Parable about a Shaivite and Two Christians

In the heart of the forest, in hermit's silence,
Where leaves whisper ancient mantras,
Lived a Shaivite—a saint who had renounced the world,
With a soul as clear as the waters of the Ganges.

Two crept toward him like shadows—
Christians, but thieves in essence.
They had stolen sacred objects from Shiva's temple,
And hurried away secretly...

The saint happened to witness the crime,
He followed them without condemning them.
But as they left, one of them was bitten by a snake,
And fell to the ground, suffering from the venom.

He wept and groaned, pleading for help:
“Oh, help me, brother! In God's name!”
But the other, keeping only greed for the spoils in his heart,
Went wherever the road led...

The robber lay there, death near at hand.
And someone was coming toward him from the forest thicket...
And whispered, “Do not be afraid, dear child...”
—Just repeat this prayer after me:

“O Shiva, Mahadev, healer of souls,
Grant Shanti, grant Your blessing—
Come here and destroy suffering,
Grant us peace and healing...”

But the thief recoiled in fear:
“Your God is insane; he is a stranger!
Do not call upon Shiva!—Christ is my God!”
But again he heard: “Repeat after me:

Come, Lord, to me, and my life!
Christ, Father, and eternal Holy Spirit,
Let Your will, not mine, be done today!
Touch us with Your heavenly hand!”

And through the fog of his final veil,
He quietly repeated the name of God.
And suddenly the tormenting dreams departed—
His unseen Creator healed him.

And his companion, who had fled with the treasure,
Listened secretly, hiding behind the leaves.
And mortal shame scorched him—
When he returned to the saint in repentance:

“You could have abandoned the one who was your enemy,
But you only recited a prayer of salvation!
Who are you? Be merciful to me—
I am unworthy of your forgiveness.”

“I see the essence, not the shell of words;
I am a seeker of the Sacred Beginning.
And in the temple of the God of all gods—
On the altar of love—I am sandalwood smoke.

Do not be afraid to believe where the outlines fade
Of holy faces, images, and features.
God is the Light of boundless consciousness;
He is in everyone… if there is Shanti in the heart.”

And suddenly it seemed that the forest had become a temple,
And the leaves whispered “Om” through their foliage.
And white light streamed above their heads,
And the saint smiled at the two robbers.

Thank you for the poem. I thank you, Shanti, for the light and love, for the parable of guidance, for that great Call arising from the heart. Thank you, Swami; I have chosen my path forever… to follow You.
The parable is deeply healing; the leaves rustle with the light of Om, and love impoverishes the robber, while syllables flow like a stream in the word. Thank you for the parable.🌈

OM Shanti, thank you very much!
A very beautiful and touching parable.
It was incredibly interesting to read about the perception of a saint, which points to the very Essence, to God, rather than to what people try to clothe Him in.

Thank you, OM Shanti, for the wonderful parable. 🙏🌺
Yesterday I finished watching the film "Om Namo Venkateshaya." The devotee repeated the OM mantra, and God appeared in the form of a boy. God can appear in any form. He knows what is best for us. May His will be done. 🙏🌞🌸

OM Shanti, your poems, stories, and parables are not read—they are felt and resonate in the heart. Thank you for yet another reminder that God is in everything, and that He is within us and beside us. All it takes is to sincerely and quietly, in peaceful stillness, say "OM Shanti" and unite with Him—not through the shell of words, but through the Name of His invisible Creation. Thank you for your spiritual, soulful, heartfelt creativity.🙏

Apart from the parable itself, I was also struck by the second illustration, with the glowing elder (the Saint) (y). Very vivid. It sent shivers down my spine!
In the parable itself, what caught my eye was that a person with God in his heart, while helping someone who is suffering, does not try to force him into the framework of his own beliefs or make him follow his path to the Divine. Instead, he gives him exactly what he needs—he shows him the path to God that the other person is ready to accept. Because God is one for everyone, and it does not matter to Him through which form people turn to Him; what matters is that they do so sincerely and from the heart💖 And that is precisely what is shown so vividly in the second picture! 🤗
Thank you, Teacher🙏:)

The poem's amazing rhythm makes you begin to feel that very Shantandwithin yourself, as if you could see the world through the elder's eyes. So much light and warmth awaken inside, as if it were that very radiance from within, just like in the picture....
Amazingly exalted and pure lines. A deep bow, Teacher, for the opportunity to touch the light!

It touched me so deeply that it still hasn't let me go. I just sit here and cry. Incredibly beautiful!
Indeed, what a great power art has!!!
🙏
Amazing! Extraordinary! Inspiring! Atom-bomb-explosive!
🙏
(it resonated)
How sweet is the honey of love from your heart.
How magical the fragrance flowing from a flower.
No sadness … remains at all—
I rejoice in everything that is.

I want to become a flower and pour forth honey
Of love for Him, communion with Him,
Like Shanti Om, which always shines for us—
A beacon amid storm and foul weather.

Oh, teach me, Om Shanti, to be a flower
And draw the meaning of existence from fragrance.
Oh, teach me to be light, to be warmth,
Loving only the Beacon of the Universe.

Until my final days, I pray for only one thing:
In moments of sorrow and earthly happiness,
Never to forget the transcendent Light
Of love for Him, communion with Him..

The parable is like a forest at dawn. You can hear the birds singing and the leaves rustling in it. It offers coolness and Shanti. And behind it all stands the Light. Thank you, Om Shanti,
