It is astonishing that even today there are people who still think that OM is some kind of Sanskrit letter.

But of course, that is not so.

And some people who have studied at least a little Sanskrit try to understand how OM could possibly be related to Sanskrit.

Where is the Sanskrit here, exactly?

Well, for example, take the well-known mantra — OM namah Shivaya:

ॐ नमः शिव

Do you see how “namah Shivaya” is written? Yes, in Sanskrit. But OM somehow does not fit and stands out from any Sanskrit text.

Confused?

You are not the only ones who are confused :)

OM is very simple and very complex at the same time.

Simple because—well, you just chant OMMMMMM.

And understand nothing...

But at least you simply chanted it :)

Just one tiny sound.

And someone who has begun studying Sanskrit will say: “Oh, I’ll now put A, U, and M together, and voilà:
  • अ (A)
  • उ (U)
  • म् (M)
And it will not turn out like this ॐ

I will go even further: many Sanskrit scholars cannot fully explain where this OM comes from.

But the most interesting thing is that people do not even ask themselves this question!

That is, it does not matter to them at all.

Someone said that OM is good, and that is enough for them.

In the same way, someone could say that war is good...

So what?

Well, never mind—that is the problem of people known as the masses.

The path to Truth is the path of the few.

That is the physics of mass and numbers.

So.

This is the sound A.

And this is Devanagari.
Your Yoga. Sanskrit phonetics.

Next, you need to know Devanagari Sanskrit well.

The thing is that “U” is written using a diacritical mark.

Look, for example, here is the sound VA — व

To get VU — वु

A mark has appeared below—this is U.

It was Va; it became Vu.

But this “hook” still does not resemble the “hook” in OM.

Still, we are already close! :)

So, we left off at the point that there is another way to write the sound U.

For example: To get VU — वु

This is a diacritic.

But diacritics are placed only on consonants.

If we want to place it on a vowel, however, it must be a long UUU.

And then it will look like this: ऊ

Doesn't it already look somewhat like OM?

But if we write it according to all the rules of ligatures, it will be precisely OM, but still without the upper dot and comma.

Screenshot_15.jpg

That is, these are two sounds — AUUUU.

Let's move on to the sound M.

Of course, you already understand that the dot and comma above is precisely M — but you simply don't know how this happened.

Isn't that right?

And here is another unique feature: we write AU, but pronounce OM, because in Devanagari any two vowels standing together must be a single sound.

Therefore, we write AUM but pronounce OM.

And this is anusvara, or more precisely, anunasika (or chandra bindu — the moon dot):

Screenshot_16.jpg

And this is the sound MMMMM.

Moreover, it is nasal.

And all together:

OM Shanti, thank you for such a profound explanation of OM, or AUM. I remember how, during OM Healing practice, I felt extraordinary vibrations; at the time, it seemed that Heaven and Earth had come together within me. I tried this practice later with other groups, but I did not feel the same effect.
Ah, this point above the moon has intrigued me. One could say that above the lunar movement there is some kind of solid point—again bringing duality together. And indeed, when I sound this, I feel no boundaries. 🙏

There is a word that occurs almost as often as OM and is almost always its companion.
And it is also rather difficult to understand.

It is NAMAH.

नमः

To understand this word and similar ones, such as namaste, it is enough simply to know the meaning of the root — NAMA.

Of course, the internet is overflowing with the meaning “to bow.” But that is an incomplete understanding!

And everyone understands what it means to bow differently. For each person, it means something of their own.

But here, we need to know more precisely.

And to find out exactly what it means, you need to make an effort.

Otherwise, you will not understand A SINGLE MANTRA IN THE WORLD.

Otherwise, you will continue to think that mantras such as OM Parabrahman namaha ॐ परब्रह्मणे नमः mean: “I bow to the Supreme Truth.”

What is the point of bowing?

Why?

NAMA means dissolving one's false ego.

You may even smash your forehead from bowing so much—it will give you nothing.

Namaste — right now I am trying to be my true self before you. Without pretense. Sincere. Open. Honest...

That is what it means!

OM Krishna(ya) namaha.

Therefore, my translation would be:

Before the face of Truth (OM), I declare to Krishna that right now I am trying to be who I truly am.

Yes, I have played all kinds of roles for a long time, worn thousands of masks, deceived and pretended, wanted to appear better than I am... But now, Krishna, I stand before you just as I am. Like glass in the sunlight. You can see right through me!
And I emphasize this. I understand this. I have come to You so that You may see my true self. I have nothing to hide from You. And there is no point in hiding anything.

I discovered this topic on Thursday, 15 minutes before the Puja began. I was overwhelmed with delight when I read the interpretation. There was so much purity and piercing sincerity in it! The mantra I had repeated many times suddenly became clear and close to my heart. During the Puja, it transformed into a living Prayer! Tears flowed, and the space before my closed eyes grew ever brighter. Toward the end, I could no longer sit still—I wanted to dance! I recited the mantra and quietly spun around without opening my eyes, while everything inside me sang with joy. And yesterday evening, an event occurred that severed my connection with a burdensome, difficult-to-resolve situation.
OM Shanti, I bow deeply in gratitude for the precious Gift, for the radiant Puja, for the Miracle!🙏❤❤❤
