Most, if not all, post-apocalyptic science-fiction stories include one remarkably recurring plot.
It is about how the protagonists, who are already living in a post-apocalyptic world, nostalgically remember that before all these terrible events, there were people warning Humanity about the looming problem—but no one listened to them.
Why?
Because it is a world of selfish people.
People do not care at all about what will happen after them.
They do not even care about what will happen during their own lifetime.
They simply live by the principle: “And Vasya listens and eats.”

USSR, September 26, 1983.The Cold War. The world is on the brink of nuclear catastrophe.
Stanislav Petrov—the duty officer at a missile-attack early-warning center.
Suddenly, the computer reports:
“Nuclear missiles launched from US territory.”
The system shows that 5 missiles are on their way.
According to procedure, Petrov had to immediately report to the command, which could then launch missiles at the United States—and a global nuclear war would begin.
But Petrov had doubts.
He thought: If this were a real attack, would the United States launch only 5 missiles?
And he concluded that it was most likely a false alarm.
He did not report the attack to his superiors.
He disobeyed the order, but the world remained safe.
It later turned out that the system had made a mistake: the satellites had mistaken sunlight reflected off clouds for a missile launch.

This takes approximately 15 minutes.
Fifteen minutes—initially in space.
So, as I said in my previous post, this is the most vulnerable period, when the missile is still flying over that country.
And if it is shot down during this time or falls on its own, it falls on that same country from which it was launched.

And we have several camps in the world.

The third is America and NATO.
The fourth is the Russian Federation—the remnant of the USSR, living out its final days.
And the fifth is the CIS, which basically has no influence on the world. In short, people there simply want to live peacefully, so stay out of everything.
