Ask them to look at your right eye and then your left eye..

Have them do this several times.

Note clearly in your understanding that you can distinctly see their eyes moving.

Left to right.

Now stand near a mirror or hold a mirror in your hands and look into it.

Start looking first at the left eye in the reflection, then at the right.

Note clearly in your understanding that you cannot see your eyes moving.

You can skip the part with the conversation partner and simply trust that you will definitely see their eyes moving.

But in the case of the mirror, you do not see this.

And you can verify it.

Interesting experiment. I decided to check it with the selfie camera as well—and indeed, the camera picks up slight eye movement, whereas looking into the mirror in the same way does not.

My daughter said that the mirror immediately displays/repeats the image in real time, while the brain does not have time to register it. The camera has a delay, which is why we can see it there.
